Abbott Residence | SRF-01
Located in Surfside, Florida, this residential renovation redefines the internal organization of the home by clarifying the relationship between public and private spaces. The new layout establishes a more cohesive and intuitive flow, addressing the fragmented disposition of the original plan.
A central objective of the project was to reconnect the house with its main garden. Despite being elevated, the home previously lacked direct access to the exterior landscape, requiring a detached and indirect route around the house. An elevated deck and pool now extend the living areas outward, creating a seamless relationship between interior spaces and the garden while enhancing everyday use and spatial continuity.
The entry sequence is marked by a double-height volume containing a large library and a reading area positioned in front of a generous window. From this space, the house unfolds clearly: the kitchen, dining, and living areas form a unified public zone that opens directly to the exterior, while the private rooms are organized to the opposite side, ensuring clarity and privacy.
A renewed material and color palette introduces warmer tones and softer contrasts, contributing to a more inviting and comfortable atmosphere throughout the house. The project results in a balanced, garden-oriented home where spatial clarity and a refined sense of warmth define the living experience.
